GRAYSCALE In computing, a grayscale or greyscale digital image is an image in which the value of each pixel is a single sample. Displayed images of this sort are typically composed of shades of gray, varying from black at the weakest intensity to white at the strongest, though in principle the samples could be displayed as shades of any color, or even coded with various colors for different intensities. Grayscale images are distinct from black-and-white images, which in the context of computer imaging are images with only two colors, black and white; grayscale images have many shades of gray in between. In most contexts other than digital imaging, however, the term "black and white" is used in place of "grayscale"; for example, photography in shades of gray is typically called "black-and-white photography".

Description
The Grayscale – Assignment 03 challenge is for your wildlife photos that are monochrome or of a black and/or gray creature (for example, a panda, zebra, or polar bear).

Quick Rules
`Post your best photograph(s) that fit the current Assignment theme. Max is 3. Small size only, and it must be of a creature. No pets or humans, please.
`We would like it if you went out and tried to get some good grayscale shots after this contest has been posted, as this is an 'assignment.' This is not a rule and you may submit photos from your archives.
`Please tag all submitted images, AK:Assignment:Grayscale . Photos must be tagged if they are to qualify.
`Photos do not have to have been invited and in the AK pool.
`We need your participation in order for this to function!
`For ease in voting, please include each entry in a new post.

Extensive Rules: Extended Guidelines - Assignments

Deadlines: Friday, December 22, 21:00 EST (Eastern Standard Time [?])

Judging: First place winner will be selected from the popular vote results. 6 photos will then be featured as Notable Mentions.

Rewards: The first place photograph will be featured on the front page for 2 weeks, as well as being able to choose Image of the Days for the number of votes they recieve.* The photographer will then be showcased as the first ever PORTRAIT featured photographer. Finally, this winner will be allowed to pick one Notable Mention for the next contest.
