About anesthetic [an aesthetic] - fitter, happier

Art that is necessarily cold, repetitious, dispassionate. Lacking in feeling, perhaps to the point of devestation. Think Warhol's death and disaster, think the electronic layer of noise in a Radiohead song (the rage is only underneath), think the austere shots in La Jetee, David Byrne's deadpan delivery in "Once in a lifetime."

Modern life lacks in feeling. Cold, dark pop. Ladytron. Repetition without marked difference. Silkscreened. Photocopied. Stainless steel and plastic. Ativan moments. Concrete coldness. Keeping the pain in check. A plastic deer in a nylon forest. An advertisement for a banal life.

This is strictly moderated by my own taste. If you get it and you like it, that's great.
