About Itinerant Artists from Andean Community - Quechuan/Kichwas

It is about Latin-American buskers, so called "red indians" / "pellerrosa" / "redskins", which are street-singers in Europe and other continents.



They sing in Quechuan (Kichwa) language and in Spanish. They come from Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, from the Andean Community of Nations.
They sing traditional music but also modern music adapted to flute, panflute, quena, panpipe, siku, etc.

They usually dress in traditional outfit and with some feathers. Mainly they have a playback equipment for the orchestra but they sing live by voice and all kind of ancient flutes and panpipes. They also use some lama-nails which shaman first use on their practice.

The effect upon people is almost hypnotic. Many are astonished when they first hear their magic music. So was I :)

Quechua (Runa Simi) is a Native American language of South America. It was already widely spoken across the Central Andes long before the time of the Incas, who established it as the official language of administration for their Empire, and is still spoken today in various regional forms (the so-called ‘dialects’) by some 10 million people through much of South America, including Peru, south-western and central Bolivia, southern Colombia and Ecuador, north-western Argentina and northern Chile. It is the most widely spoken language of the indigenous peoples of the Americas.
