The level of photos submitted has definitely raised over the last couple of years. It's a real pleasure to look through the photos sent and those invited to the pool.

About Take me as I am: Analog Portraiture

Intended as a film lover's alternative to pools crammed with synthetic, over-worked portraits that bury deftly handled gems.

As with most of the arts and genres and modes they fall into, portraiture is a field in flux at the moment. This group is dedicated to film portraiture for the sake of examining what sort of forward explorations are being made in this mode by those of still affectionately or purposefully tied to a 20th Century medium. It's not about hating digital (there are other pools for those discussions).

Photos submitted should have minimal alterations. Deepening the blacks from a cruddy scan is acceptable, but photos with boosted colour saturation and contrast are contrary to the point of this pool. Cropped photos are fine.

Submissions are restricted to 5 per week to encourage quality over quantity. That said, don't let a less than perfect exposure or the odd light leak discourage you from posting an image that has a certain je ne sais quoi.
