The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History dedicates its collections and scholarship to inspiring a broader understanding of our nation and its many peoples. We create learning opportunities, stimulate imaginations, and present challenging ideas about our country’s past.

Museum Photography Policy
Photography is prohibited in the Star-Spangled Banner Gallery and the Albert H. Small Documents Gallery. Video cameras and flash photography are permitted in all other areas unless noted by signage. Tripods are not permitted inside the Museum building unless permission is granted by the Museum's Public Affairs Office.
