About Wildlife Watching
Alton Illinois and the Great Rivers Region is home to an abundant array of watchable wildlife. The great rivers, Illinois tallgrass prarie, wetlands and woodlands provide wildlife with a local biodiversity of native habitats unique to this region.
Some popular sites of our wildlife watchers include the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary, Pere Marquette State Park, Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge, and all along the rivers and bluffs that surround the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway.
Also an Internationally known haven for birdwatchers, our location on the Mississippi Flyway attracts migratory birds of every color, shape, and size. At almost any time throughout the year your likely to find a fellow wildlife watcher along your path.
Deer, Turkey, Turtles, ...whatever you find, if it's wildlife and you've seen it here, we want to see it too!
Take a drive, hike a trail, or bike along the byway...just don't forget your camera!
Please let us know the approximate location and date of your photos.
