About Alternative Oxford

There's a perfectly functional Oxford group, and very nice they are too (I'm one of the admins). But the problem with Oxford is that it's been photoed to death - the Bodleian, the Radcliffe Camera, the colleges, Magdalen Bridge, Christchurch Meadow - if I had a quid for every picture postcard I've seen of this lot I'd be rich.

So this group is for Alternative Oxford. The interesting, the different, the regular sights, shot with a different perspective. Anything goes, pretty much, as long as you'd never find it on a postcard. If you will insist on posting postcard photos/university buildings/the usual Oxford stuff from the same old angles, realistically you've got to expect it to be deleted. We welcome: odd angles, interesting light, unusual sights, Oxford's darker corners, the inhabitants in action, close ups of things you've found around the town, cool graffiti, basically anything that you'd think twice about adding to the Oxford pool belongs in here instead. I have a particular vendetta against photographs of the Radcliffe Camera and any found in here that aren't startlingly original will be deleted. Bah, humbug.

Oh, and no pervery please, we're British. ;-)

I'm delighted to see that there's some tremendous photographs by some very talented people in this pool already and it'd be great to get some more. So give it your best shot!!
