About A Long Photo

This group is about the concept of what makes a 'Long Photo'. There has been some 'discussion' (being polite here) on this idea.

However, as a teacher I see the idea of a long photo interesting. I am often on the look out for creative challenges for students of a digital nature that goes beyond the simple 'point and click' mentality we often see camera use in schools reduced to. Creativity is often seen as being of great importance to education in this 21st century world. Many are arguing it should be of a much greater importance in education, right up there with reading, writing and ...what was that last one..... of Maths! :) have a look at this TED Talk on Schools and Creativity entitled 'Do Schools Kill Creativity?' - www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/66

Digital storytelling is becoming so much a part of what we are exposed to in this ever expanding media rich world. A 'Long Photo' could be one of the next things to help capture another form of experience to deliver a powerful message.

I don't believe a simple short video clip IS a long photo. This group I hope will help define what this critter might be with some examples for debate and discussion.

For starters is a long photo.....?

A single image with and audio soundtrack of music or sound effects of where the shot was taken?

Is it a stop motion capture?

Is it a Time-lapse capture?

Is it a series of photos showing a story?

Is it a series of photos showing a concept?

Can it be all of the above?

Who should decide? I mean what is art?

Make sure you tag your work with "A Long Photo" so people can pick it up easily.

The general rules are:

1. Family friendly...you all know what I mean. Sanctions will applied for breaking that.
2. Add a tilte and description as to why you consider this a long photo on the description of that page to aid in the understanding of your creative decision making.
3. Be polite. Agree to disagree if you like as I do not see any right or wrong answers here. But be prepared for debate.
4. This is NOT a place for arguments for whether or not Flickr should or should not have video. There are a couple of other groups for that sort thing. If you don't like it why would you even bother with this group? If you do decide to try this you will be blocked.... NO warnings!
5. Have FUN! Learning is meant to be fun. That's what I always tried to instill in my classroom when I teach!
6 Rules will be added as needed depending on how people behave.
