About Montana Photography

We want to see photos of the great state of Montana! We want photos that capture of the real heart and soul of Montana; photos that emphasize the beauty and splendor that is unique to Montana and those happenings in and around the state. There is a lot to see and do in Montana and this group is dedicated to showing all that Montana has to offer.

However, please note; just because a photograph is taken in Montana, it is does not necessarily qualify it to be inserted into this group. Please concentrate on submitting photographs ABOUT Montana.

Photo Walks:

Once the Montana Photography Flickr Group becomes active enough we plan to schedule group walks around the state. We will meet for photo walks and fun several times each year. Stay tuned here for more information on upcoming meets.

Community Guidelines:

The Montana Photography Flickr Group includes many fine photographers. This group maintains a friendly atmosphere of critique and commentary. We also encourage helpful and friendly discussion, and we hope to foster a community that is as much fun as it is informative.

What Goes and What Stays:

Please see the group description above. While we all enjoy fine photographs, we ask that your submissions stay on topic. Yes, we love to visit places like Wyoming and Alberta, but they really aren't Montana are they? Also, we encourage the submission of portraits IF they are related in some way to the state of Montana. If they are not, they will be removed.

NOTE: Like the State of Montana's Office of Tourism, we will permit SOME photographs taken in Yellowstone National Park that are technically in the state of Wyoming. However, this should be considered an occasional exception and not a rule.

Going forward this group will be heavily curated and photographs will be removed without explanation. Please do not take this personally. This is a common practice on Flickr. We simply do not have the time to let everyone know why their photograph was removed in every case. However, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to send us an E-mail any time.
