About A Lasting Moment Competition at Leeds City Museum

The winners will have their images produced to gallery standards, framed and displayed in the Leeds City Museum. The entries from the winners and runners up will then tour around the city though the library network.

This competition is open to all residents of Leeds and the surrounding area and is a chance to explore the City of Leeds through photography.

Entry for submissions is between
1st November and 29th November 2008

The winners and runners up will be contacted from, the 8th of December so that the display images can be produced and framed and the winners work will be exhibited from the 10th January 2009. Winners and runners up will be displayed across the City from May 2009



THE CATEGORIES
There are two age categories: 15 years old and under and 16 years old and over.

The competition is divided in to 4 topic categories and each category is open to your interpretation. Below is a brief description to give you an idea of what each category represents

City Life
This category is about the City, its residents and visitors. Why Leeds is a special city, and what are some of the significant features of daily life in this city. Are there parts of the landscape that sum up the City and life in the city?

Politics / Communities
This category can encompass a wide range of topics and could range from two friends debating the price of beer to local community news. Local, national and international politics is something that is the foundation upon which our civilisation is built and communities are part of this structure. Can this be captured by a camera?

The Working City
This section embodies the beating heart of the city. The working people, industries and business life.

Old Lives/New Futures
This category is intended to look at the changes the city has endured over time. The changing style of houses, the physical changes to the City and its inhabitants, fashions trends, etc.

IMPORTANT!!!!! When adding a description to the image you are submitting, please start, CATEGORY' and AGE GROUP. Followed by a brief sentence .to explain why you have submitted your image in this category. E.g 'THE WORKING CITY. (16+) This image reflects the vibrant financial quarter of Leeds, highlighting the shift from what was Industrial Leeds to the tertiery sector that makes it a success today.'
