About Alaska Randonneurs
Alaska Randonneurs organize and participate in self-supported, long-distance cycling events in the Great Land.
Our rides are scenic and challenging, offering camaraderie and interesting cycling adventures throughout Alaska. Our rides, called “brevets”, are timed events, yet they’re not races. Our goal is to finish the ride.
Kent Peterson, in Bicycle Quarterly Vol. 5, No. 1, said it best:
“Rudyard Kipling advised that we, “should fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds worth of distance run, “ and Mahatma Gandhi observed that, “there is more to life than increasing its speed.” There will always be some who race to the finish and some who saunter. Each brevet has room for a wide range of machines and riders. Some seek minimum times, some seek maximal comfort or style, some ride minimal machines. At the end of the road, at the end of the day, all are rewarded.”
Please add your best event photos representing the spirit of randonneuring in Alaska. Tag your photos with the "Alaska Randonneurs", the event distance, event date and any other pertinent information to help out with searches in the pool.
