About The World Of Alan Bennett

A group inspired by the works of British actor, author and sometime broadcaster Alan Bennett.

Old ladies in white cardigans on a bench at Bridlington. A bespectacled youth reading a paperback on the bus. Eating the sandwiches in the car because it's raining. Single people haunting municipal libraries. Thermos flasks. Hot water bottles. A Cream Cracker Under The Sofa. Grammar School. It's a bit Martin Parr. It's a bit Belle And Sebastian. It's a bit Morrissey. It's a bit Smiths. A gentle celebration of the ordinary.

There aren't any firm rules, but if I think a picture isn't in the spirit of the group i'll have to delete it - sorry. I must apologise now if I don't flickrmail you to say sorry, though I shall always try to do so.

While Alan Bennett's work has often a very English/Yorkshire theme, submissions are welcome from anywhere in the world, so long as they fit in.

If in doubt, please do post - but consider this, if you have a picture of a pint of lager and a picture of a cup of tea - post the picture of the tea.

Any pictures of Mr Bennett himself are welcome, too!
