Any one know of any waterfalls in Southern Alabama besides River Falls and Hidden Falls???
I'm in the Enterprise Alabama area and haven't made it up North yet, but want to photograph these waterfalls.
Isn't there some up around Selma and Montgomery?

This one is what I believe they refer to as Hidden Falls outside Haleburg Alabama

When you get a chance, go and check out Chewacla Falls in Chewacla State Park, just south of Auburn. It's a beautiful waterfall coming over a dam and cascading through the rocks below. Here's a couple of shots:

I don't like the second shot very much, but it does give you some sense of the layout of the place. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to go to Montgomery today and check out one that is suppose to be off of Hayneville Rd. there in Montgomery on the Cotoma Creek.

On the second shot, is it the rock and log in the foreground or the position of the waterfall in the shot that you don't like. I always appreciate any advice. I'm just learning how to shoot these wonderful things

I really wanted to get off to the side but it was way to slick to get over there.

ANOTHER question...how do you get the shot's on the forum blog to be larger shots like yours rather than those tiny shots like mine are. I was trying to figure that out the other day without success.

I almost completely forgot....there is the Old Mill and Dam in Prattville that is awesome. You take the first Prattville exit heading north out of Montgomery. Turn left and go back over the interstate and stay on that road (for a few miles) until you end up in the old downtown section of Prattville. You will see the dam and mill once you're there.

Here's a couple of shots for inspiration:

(BTW, to paste a larger shot in a discussion thread, simply click on the "All Sizes" button above your photo and then select the "Medium" size and copy the code beneath the shot. )

As for what I don't like about the composition of those shots is that I crowded the top of the shot trying to keep the sky out of the shot....because I knew it would be blown out. I was less sophisticated with my editing skills than I am now. They just feel a little cramped to me. The exposure is pretty good, but next time I'm there, I will do a better job.

I'm glad you erred on the side of safety. I have one main rule when I'm out hiking and shooting waterfalls....DON'T END UP ON THE NEWS! Well all know that the only way someone ends up on the news when they're hiking is when something bad happens.

Good luck.
