10 Feb 09 - Unfathomable - that's the word that keeps going through my head when I think of what is doing on in Australia - from the news reports I've seen and the eye witness reports from people going through this right now - fighting off fires in their backyards and watching everything around them be destroyed. Please post pictures that are of the fires or show support for Australia in some way. Click here to donate to the Australian Red Cross.

About Australia Fires - Aid and Support

Over 200 people have been killed, hundreds more have been injured, over 350,000 hectares of land have been decimated and over 900 homes have been destroyed leaving up to 7,000 people homeless.

In times like these, it is easy to feel completely helpless and to want to do something - however small or large that you can. Even something as simple as taking a picture to show your support or caring for the situation can help you feel like you're doing something and, if you're able, below is a link to donate money to help with the cause.

I researched the Flickr Groups and didn't see that anyone had created a similar group yet, so I decided to spearhead it and do it myself instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

Flickr is an amazing tool - let's get this thing viral and get the word out there! They need all of the support and help that anyone can give them.

Pictures of Australia related items or tributes, etc would be perfect for the pool, especially as most of us won't have pictures of the fires themselves to add.
