About Rethinking Topeka's Riverfront?
In 2007, the American Institute of Architects will celebrate its 150th anniversary. Through state and local components, AIA architects will propose, convene, and participate in initiatives that utilize community engagement, in a collaborative process, and quality design as keys to improving a community’s livability.
Our AIA Topeka – 150 committee has chosen to take on the task of developing ideas for Topeka's riverfront. We see the riverfront as an unrealized area of potential that is gaining renewed interest. The major goal of this initiative will be to bring together professionals, students, citizens, and community leaders to create a vision of prosperity that will be the seed for the riverfront’s future. We hope to provide ideas for many recreational, cultural, and economic opportunities of a healthy and vibrant riverfront development.
