About African Cosmos Photo-sharing Project
Share your photos and have them be part of our photography contest and community programming!
The Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art in Washington DC is preparing to open a new exhibition, African Cosmos, in June 2012 and we have created this photo-sharing site for the exhibit.
Are there any photos of the African Night Sky you would like to share? The African Cosmos exhibit will emphasize that astronomy is a human, therefore, global endeavor, and will place Africa as part of a broader global discourse on the artistic, cultural and scientific dimensions of celestial observation. Key components: Moon, Stars, Sun, and celestial phenomena. Let us know the time and largest city near you so we can track them.
How your photos will be used:
* All photos will be shared with our online community on this Flickr group page
* Your photo will be submitted into our photography contest
* The top photos will be shown on videoscreens within our exhibition alongside original works of African art
