Administrivia
Please remember that your photograph must be actively taken between the the time this assignment was posted, and the expiration of the assignment.
Please remember to follow the guidelines found on the group's front page. These include a few DOs and DON'Ts.
We look forward to seeing your one (or two) submissions.
Have fun, and stay safe.
Submissions
Submissions to be photos 'medium size' † (longest side 500 pixels wide or high), included in this assignment thread only. Photos are not to be lodged into the group's pool.
† Click on the "all sizes" above your photo; click on "Available sizes:" medium; and then use the stuff in the box at "1. Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:".
Remember: DON'T Post to other groups' pools until after all voting has finished for the assignment. Adhering to this makes it simpler to follow the discussion, and voting.
DO Post "What it took" to get the photograph, in the description area below the photo itself, so that we can see it when following the link from this thread.
DO Tag your photos with "Active Assignment Weekly".
DO Have fun on the assignments! Get out! Go somewhere different.
DO Post up to 2 pictures for any given assignment. If you post a 3rd without being invited by an admin, you forfeit the assignment. Period.
DO Critique at least two other photos posted.
DO Encourage your fellow photographers. Offer suggestions, advice, pointers etc. You will find that by teaching, you will learn more. Start
This assignment begins as soon as the assignment is posted, but we ask that you don't enter your photo(s) until the first Monday of the active month, in this case August 4.
Expiration
This assignment ends at 8pm UTC (aka GMT) on Monday, September 1, when you should have completed the assignment and posted your photo(s). That's 1 day after the end of the calendar month. [Chosen so that everyone has the maximum "weekend time".]
In case you're wondering about the closing time, check on the time remaining calculator. This assignment will close at the same time as the weekly assignment.
Voting
Voting can take place once submissions have closed. All voting must be completed forty-eight hours (two days) after the close of the assignment. The time remaining calculator shows this time, as the close of tie-breaker voting for the weekly assignment.• All members of the group may cast one vote.
• It is expected that those who have submitted photos will vote, and that vote must be for a submission other than their own.
• Votes must be in this assignment thread.
• If there is a tie, a further forty-eight hours will be allowed for those who have not already voted on any of the tied photos, to cast tie-break votes.

It is OK, we've been having a vote amongst the admins, and will amend the rules in line with the weekly assignments. That is, once the assignment has been posted, you can start shooting, so the start date for this was 6 July.
It is no good reading an assignment and not being able to shoot for it - just frustrating.
And since the Monthly is run in it's own thread, you can Post it here as well (now if you like).

Uhm, shouldn't it be time for voting...?
I'm currently extremely busy at work (and what little time is left of the day at home), so I'll post my individual comments over the next few days. But I don't want to miss my chance on voting, so my vote goes to SkeenaValleyGirl's "Rock Frame" (no. 13, I think) because it's a real "natural" frame, great colours, good lighting, not only of the framed landscape but also of the framing rocks themselves, with a wonderful play of light and shadow on those rocks.
EDIT by Prozac74: Apparently my second entry got lost so I added it manually (Nr. 22).

My bote goes to Prozac's long titled "Spotted My Wife Reading In The Heat Outside While I Was Chilling In Our Air-Conditioned Bedroom". This not only includes a frame, but the subject seen through is beguiling. I like that there's an active life, even at rest reading a book.
I did also like the photos from Zoe was in NZ, cockahoops, Infinite Monkeys, and @k@sh for somewhat similar reasons, in that there's something appealing, a story that could be followed.
You all had good photos, each unique to your perspectives, and the active get-up and go to make it happen... well done!

I love the journey of the photo. The framing actually leads you to the subject.
I also liked Zoe's. :)

And with a big round of applause, the winner for this month's assignment is Prozac, with Spotted My Wife Reading In The Heat Outside While I Was Chilling In Our Air-Conditioned Bedroom

Please take your submission to The Magazine, and come up with an assignment for October.
There is the Assignment Suggestions (Official) thread for assistance, which also contains a list previous assignments to avoid repetition.
