Tidal surge

I won't pretend I am not worried about the high tide tonight. They are saying 1.5 mt surge on top of a 5.70 high tide. One of our big spring tides. The warning at West Mersea is very high risk and they are evacuating Jaywick just up the coast . Moondog is going to be very close to floating so I have hung car tyres around as giant fenders and am hoping for the best.

Blowing a hoolie up here, took the sails and dodgers off last weekend. Mike who bought Emily was doing the same. Glad we did as 70kn forecast for last night.

The Harwich tide gauge currently has 2.18m surge and it's still 3 hours to high water. Amare is high enough that it won't be a problem but I think there will be a lot of worried boat owners tonight. Fingers crossed for everyone...

So far so good. It ended up 2 feet below the 1953 mark thanks to the surge coming an hour before high tide. But boats have moved on their cradles in some areas , hopefully not Moondog. Will check after high tide and my repairmen have gone.
