Got a new Android smart phone for work and immediately spent the 24 euros to buy the Navionics software for this. It is fantastic, good clear charts, good zoom functions, tidal and tidal flow data for actual time as well as plus 14 days. Charts are better resolution than the ones I paid for from Imray for the PC. Tides for harbour, wind overlay (nice option) from accuweather, route planning and lots more all for 24 euros for the whole of UK, Ireland and Holland. Battery life isn't brilliant but incredible value for money so long as you have an Android smart phone or ifone. Also good to play on when bored at home!

Hi Neil
Does it need a phone signal or does it use GPS?
rothwell_neil 8 years ago
Uses both, triangulates using the phone to make it quick on start up then uses the internal GPS for exact position. With no phone signal works very well and so far seems to be as accurate as my other GPS devices. Tidal data is great, not too many diamonds but the fact that it is current for the time and tide is excellent. Wind a nice feature as well. Will report some more after using in the real world but so far very impressed. Blurb says:

Sounds like a great toy!
Hope it leaves time for sailing.
Sailed with a friend who had an iPhone with marine charts. It was very accurate for some of the narrow channels around Skerries.
