Spinnakering

Finally (after nearly a year's ownership) got the spinnaker up on Aeolus - a magnificent site! (No photos unfortunately.)

With a help of a good mate we worked out the rigging, found a nice bit of wind and launched it. Really quite easy to helm and the sheet loads quite manageable. Gybing was reasonably straightforward too.

Aeolus certainly loved the speed - she took off with gusto when the kite went up but remained really well mannered throughout, despite the wind shifts from the big buildings along the Thames.

If you've not had your spinny up yet then all I can say is don't delay - it's great!

Just got a spinnaker today so I hope to try it at the weekend. My last spinnaker was a tad small but flew perfectly the one time I used it. It gave me an opportunity to get the pole and rigging set up so I'm looking forward to using a full sized one now. The other will do great for heavy weather.

The small kite would be handy for flying single handed.
