fav feb work

Hello all,
Im fairly new to this group and thought I would introduce myself by starting a thread for people to post their favourite photoshop piece they have created since the start of February.
lets see what im up against, here's mine lol.
I did this picture in a style known as droste / escheresque if you look to the laptop the subject is holding you can see the scene repeating itself continually, as far as the eye can see.(or in this case, it is restricted by the resolution of the image.)

I did this one last weekend for the Retouch Magic group on flickr...

I think she still needs some work on the distortion though. I really like your work hooded youth!
That is a great composite, and the droste effect is truly an amzing thing. You have illustrated it beautifully too. Here are a couple pages that you may enjoy on MC Escher:

You can click the pages for some more links on MC Escher in the comments. This one in particular explains the effect very well...

hey,
thanks for your kind comments grfx, I really like Escher style images and related styles. They are pretty easy to do, and look great normally.
I find I am more hindered by time in photoshop rather then skill set.
Your film poster looks cool, I really like the distortion of the girl, particularly how her legs appear.( i know it isn't a realistic portrayal but i like it either way)
Nice masking of the hair as well, that's a nightmare normally.
and lastly ty for the examples of Escher's work, it always captivates me.

I did this one the other day for a photographer I met here on flickr. He wanted to put his necklace onto a beach with sand and so on.
Here is a link to the original from AndreaNYC:

Some nice work here, not so sure about the hooded youth, he looks positively evil... LOL
Gwennie, I love the effects you have achieved here, particularly on the necklace itself, did you use Lucis or similar?

First time I have really used textures and drastically altered lighting so I'm rather pleased :)

elliye Nice work. Looking through your stream, you have completely changed the character of this image with the various treatments.
The ‘painting with light’ shots are pretty cool as well. How did you get such accurate outlines?

Thank you Harry Limey very much. I did color adjustment/tweaking on just a couple layers. I isolated the subject, which needed to be done to fully replace the background. With the subject on its own layer, it is very easy and quick to just select portions here and there if need be too.
I made one quick selection of the gold portion of this new layer...then selected inverse...and added more cyan, blue and a touch of magenta. The photographers pohoto is titles "cyan long shot", so I tried to make the color more of a true cyan. Then selected inverse again...so the gold was selected, and added a little bit of contrast.
I duped this layer, and set the blending mode to soft light. I boosted the contrast on this layer like crazy...and adjusted brightness as needed. This can help exagerate the highlights, and sparkle the metal some too.
The photographer has another example of a smoother background. I am going to try another one later today. I think my shadows are a little off. They looked okay when I was working on it, but I think they need another step or two, and more transparent on the cast portion. There is more of a description of the editing in the comments of my version.
I was not sure which outlines Trevor Dennis was referring to, but I usually use the pen tool for accurate outlines. It uses bezier curves, the same way french curves are used for hand drawing. The path created is Vector art, just like type, and will have a perfectly smooth edge. Thanks again for the comment :)
...and I really like 00kell, and elliye's work as well. Awesome stuff!!

gwennie Sorry, I had just done the obligatory off topic thing – the one where your tangents have tangents – and was referring in first to Ellyie’s texture treatment, and then to her ‘Painting with Light’ shots.
You’ll see what I meant about accurate outlines from this shot:
