Monopod tripod recommandation
|
Last night I tried my newly acquired lens with the tripod that I got from my dad - and 30 years old aluminium tripod. I did not real feel confident about it. Do you have recommandation on tripods, monopods to use with the heavy monster ? I intend to shoot birds and maybe some sports.

I never use a tripod with this lens, but I 99% of the time use a Manfrotto 682B Monopod. Its excellent.

Ditto on the monopod. With a tri pod, a gimble type mount would help with the beast. Nothing worse than watching your 8,000 $ lense fall over because the ball/socket was not tight enough.

I went shooting yesterday - found out that the tripod I have really does not do it. Also found out that I could shoot handheld. Will go for the monopod at the moment. Thanks for the replies and hints.

Well Mr. Atlas, (shoot 400 mm f 2.8 hand held) thats great news. Though I am a mere mortal, I have on occasion shot the beast hand held, the monopod works wonders on the forearms for us old folk. Ps. Good luck and enjoy.
