About Visual References to Polaroid in Commercial Design

The purpose of this group is to collect examples of visual references to Polaroid photographs in advertising and mass media. These could include print ads, direct mail, store displays, TV commercials, and billboards. The use the unmistakable Polaroid border "frame" has remained surprisingly common over the last few years despite the waning popularity of Polaroid's integral film cameras (600, Spectra, SX-70). But with the end of Polaroid as we know it, how much longer will these visual references continue to appear?

The polaroid border frame is in one sense a useful device for designers looking for ways to set off images or create usable text space, but it also serves to signify or evoke a sense of nostalgia. This group exists to document the end of this idea and its currency.

This group is not for posting actually Polaroid photos (unless you're posting a polaroid of a representation of a polaroid...if that's not confusing) or fake Polaroids created with image editing software. It's all about collecting examples of representations of Polaroid in commercial art. Other stuff will be deleted.
