As a western suburb of the City and County of Denver, Colorado, Wheat Ridge has awesome views of the foothills and the Rocky Mountains, and was founded as a community in 1859. A farming community that was by nearby mining and became the largest producer of carnations worldwide until the mid-20's. Wheat Ridge was incorporated as a city in August of 1969.
