Great contest idea, it'll be nice to stretch a bit. I just want to point out that you don't explicitly limit each entrant to one entry in the rules, although it is implied with the singular tense.
Just thought you'd like to nip that one in the afterburner.

I was wondering what size you consider a Starfighter to be, compared to naval combat craft? What I associate with starfighter is the space equivalent of a jet fighter or bomber, with 1-5 crew. A star cruiser would be the size of a naval cruiser.
-Is what I think.
I see there's no demand for fitting a minifig this time.
In this contest, could I post a destroyer class spaceship, per example? I don't have time or bricks to build one, except in nanoscale, I'm just fishing for what might show up in the competition.
I just joined the Starfighters group, as I saw the contest post on the SCI-Lug group. I enjoyed the small starfighter contest so much I had to join this one, too.

Bionicbadboi: This thread should answer your questions regarding what constitutes a starfighter. A destroyer is not a starfighter.
Also have a look through the pool. There are many different sizes, shapes, and roles (from space superiority to bomber to ultimate superweapon).
Regarding scale: microscale and the somewhat larger n-scale is fine, but make sure you look through nnenn's stuff first. He and Dasnewton have pretty much defined the word awesome at that scale.

Well, I'm already about a third of the way through my entry . . . and I have a question. That is, would be okay if I put up my entry in my photostream once it's complete, to see what folks think of it before I enter it? If not, then that's perfectly fine, and I could see why you wouldn't want me to do so, but it's worth asking, at any rate. :)

^Yes, that would be totally fine. In fact, I encourage you guys to do so, since once you submit it, it's locked in. Just don't expect to receive help or comments from me.
Good question, btw.

Legolord - It depends on how original you make the design. The generic frames are meant to be a jumping-off point.
So far, I've seen folks build slightly modified versions of this frame. But consider that the Archangel itself is built off of a modified version of the frame, and you see there's a HUGE amount of possible variation.
I mean, it's really exciting to see people use that frame, but what I'd really like to see what kinds of wild variations people can get out of it.

Question for the judges: What qualities are you looking for in an entry? Or, what criteria do you expect to consider?
I hope I can carve out some building time for this...

RogueKnight - please see earlier in the discussion - we've already answered that question.
CurtyDC - while it is an interesting suggestion, the prizes are currently organized by part count. I don't want a White Elephant contest. :)
SJ Commander - I would think you wouldn't want to limit yourself on parts. But it is your call.
Retracile - We don't want you guys building to any kind of standard, except this word - "Awesome!" Not very specific, I know, but this contest is going to be ridiculously subjective as it is; we don't need to squabble over criteria.
TO ALL - I highly recommend you look back through the pool, as well as maybe the Vic Viper pool to get a sense of what constitutes Awesome. You'll quickly see there's no rhyme or reason. It's kind of like porn. You can't define it, but you know it when you see it.

How the heck can people gripe that it's only 1 entry per person? That's basically the definition of a contest... you can't run a race and win gold silver and bronze (unless you're chuck norris)
If you want to build multiple entries, showcase them on your photostream first, have your friends tell you which entry is the best, and then submit. It's not that difficult a concept.
Peter: You should have a hidden prize for the first person that submits... :)
I have a feeling a lot of people will bide their time to see the caliber of entries before submitting.

Alright, I've finished my entry!
'Bulldog' FX-10 Heavy Fighter
The FX-10 'Bulldog' (as it is called by most of the Veczites' many enemies) is a heavy-duty fighter employed by the Veczites, a malevolent and violent race. The Bulldog is optimized for destruction, with two light blasters, two heavy particle cannons, a concussion-bomb dispenser, and twin torpedo tubes. It is also heavily armored and durable and will last infuriatingly long in any engagement.

bmarreal, Crimson Wolf - I don't see why not. CW, I think you might be confusing IATTAR with this pool. There's no requirement for a sealed cockpit.
COLORS! - Yes, I will ship the prizes to the winners. I suppose I could be mean and have you all drive to New Jersey to get them, but that seems overly complicated, and I doubt most of you would want to visit 'The Garden State' anyway.
NOTE - don't forget we need two (2) pics from different angles in the thread (Joris - you need to add one). Thanks!

OK, well here it is. I hope I place! This is my Z-27 Viper from Fighter Industries. It is extremely fast, though has a fairly small arsenal. it's main weapons are it's three rapid fire lasers in front. under the right wing is mounted two medium laser cannons. Under the left wing are 3 light homing missiles. Since it doesn't have very powerful weapons, it relies on its blinding speed to make quick deadly attacks.
