About Modern Quilting Stitches: Life Beyond Stippling!

Modern Quilting Stitches is a place to show ideas for quilting -- the actual quilting part, where you stitch the backing, batting, and top together. Most traditional quilting designs leave me cold, so I'm trying to think of good, versatile designs to use with modern quilts, e.g. Funquilts, Denyse Schmidt, and Amy Butler patterns, Gees-Bend-inspired improvisational quilts, minimalist whole cloth quilts, and so on.

Images of finished quilting or scanned sketches are both welcome. Thanks for sharing!
