About Birmingham TypeThis site is all about Birmingham's graphic DNA: it is an attempt to describe the city and its character through its urban and public lettering. It features site-specific specialist lettering including monumental examples found in architecture the urban environment, as well as smaller letterforms such as engineers’ and builders’ marks, dates on buildings, hand-made signs, graffiti, and formal and informal signage. It does not include printed advertising as this falls under the heading of graphic design. |
