About Capturing the Quays
One of Greater Manchester’s most iconic attractions, The Quays has been vital to the success of Manchester, its sister city Salford and Trafford taking its place in history as a hub of the industrial revolution.
In 2008 urban regeneration has seen The Quays rise once again to become a must-visit destination in the North West rich in culture, commerce and iconic views. Places like Lancashire County Cricket Ground, The Lowry, Imperial War Museum North, Ordsall Hall and The Lowry Outlet Mall stand out amongst the historic waterfront alongside a wide selection of hotel offerings.
To celebrate the ongoing rebirth of this historic area, Manchester Evening News Online and The Quays are throwing down the gauntlet for MEN Online readers to submit photography that best captures The Quays in all its glory.
The winners – chosen in conjunction with Manchester Evening News’s picture desk - will be given an ‘all expenses paid for’ weekend at The Quays and the opportunity for their image to be used to promote The Quays around the world.
So how would you Capture the Quays?
It could be a particular magical time of the day, an iconic building from an unusual angle, a display of water sports on the quays themselves, even a picture of the people who live in or use The Quays throughout the year.
MEN Online will be keeping readers up to date by publishing the best of the images submitted by its readers over the next few months leading up to a final twelve images that will be used in a forthcoming calendar to celebrate this historic area.
