About Townie - playin' tourist in your hometown
"Townie" - refers to a person that has lived in town long enough to:
1) refer to places by an old name or reference such as "the old Safeway building" which hasn't been a Safeway since 1987.
2) take years to eat/drink at a "new" establishment because they remember how crusty and dirty the dive bar that used to be there was (and they should know, they used to frequent the crusty dive bar)
3) lament the return of the students in the fall, because it means that the bars will once again be packed with students (who I swear get younger every year)
4) know the best places and "hidden" parks
5) delight in the whacky festivals the locals cook up
Please post photos (limit of 5 pictures per theme - actually you can post more just don't flood the pool K?) that represent "playing tourist" in your hometown. Pictures of local festivals, local favorites (parks, bars, hikes, nurseries) and anything else that strikes your fancy about where you live.
Some people in the group live in towns that are changing and are documenting buildings and such before they are gone. Please feel free to add these kinds of shots to the pool as well.
If you don't live in Seattle or Paris all the better - the more off the beaten track your town is the more fun to celebrate it! If you do live in a highly visible town - please post photos of quirky places and events that don't make it into the guidebooks.
Enjoy!
