WE ARE A NATION AND WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE! Youtube video
The General Assembly,
Convinced that the Franco Fascist Government of Spain, which was imposed by force upon the Spanish people with the aid of the Axis Powers and which gave material assistance to the Axis Powers in the war, does not represent the Spanish people, and by its continued control of Spain is making impossible the participation of the Spanish people with the peoples of the United Nations in international affairs;
Recommends that the Franco Government of Spain be debarred from membership in international agencies established by or brought into relationship with the United Nations, and from participation in conferences or other activities which may be arranged by the United Nations or by these agencies, until a new and acceptable government is formed in Spain.
UN General Assembly Resolution 39(I) on the Spanish Question.

Catalunya, an open and forbbiden country
The people of Catalonia have always been open to the outside world. We love to welcome foreigners and show them our homeland. And we like them to feel at home among us. Perhaps that is why so many visit us. Every year millions of tourists flock to our seaside resorts without realizing that, a short distance from the sundrenched Mediterranean beaches, there are places of artistic interest, historic buildings and landscapes which are equally well worth seeing. We would like to give an overview of all these other attractions so as to make your visit an ever more pleasant and varied experience.
We hope you find it useful and we wish you an enjoyable stand.
Catalonia is a geographically small country, but with a great history that stretches back more than a thousand years, with its own culture and language that have shaped its personality. It occupies an area of 31,930 square kilometres, slightly smaller than the Netherlands and slightly bigger than Belgium, and has a population of six million people.
On the east it is bounded by the Mediterranean sea, on the north by France and Andorra, and on the west and the south by the Spanish Autonomous Communities of Aragon and Valencia. This strategic position has led to the forging of very close links with the rest of the Mediterranean countries and with continental Europe.
Its relief is very varied, with plains alternating with mountain ranges, and hence possesses a great diversity of habitats and considerable climatic variations.
Its history and language and its specific cultural, political and legal tradition have shaped the personality of the country and its people. At the present day, it forms an Autonomous Community within Spain, and has its own governing body, the Generalitat.
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and one of the great Mediterranean cities. With its surrounding metropolitan area, it accounts for almost half the population.
On 11 September 1714 after a 13-month siege, about 20,000 soldiers under the Bourbons began an assault on Barcelona... 5,200 held out against the invaders...4,000 died in resistance...the fall of the city signalled the end of the state of Catalonia.
Superimposed on it is the state-level administrative division into provinces (Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida and Girona) and the Catalan administrative division into 41 comarques , or districts. The Catalan districts, which vary immensely in character and population density, and whose boundaries are set by geographical and historical criteria, are generally centred on a town that acts as the service centre, and each has its district council.

Catalan is a Romance language, formed between the 10th and 11th century. The first known Catalan documents come from the 12th century. It is one of the richest countries in Europe. It was forbbiden in 1716 by King Philip V of Castille (later Spain), and its use was prosecuted and severely punished.
CATALONIA IS NOT A FREE NATION
The Catalan Anthem is a XVII century popular song that talks about the war that followed the invasion of our nation by the military forces of the King of Castille, Felipe V.
Following the military occupation, a decree called "Decreto de Nueva Planta" was passed. This decree legally eliminated the Catalan Nation. Since then, our country and our language have suffered varying degrees of freedom and varying degrees of repression.
Today, the Kingdom of Spain is a free democratic country. A Constitution protects the freedom of its individuals. However, the freedom of its various nationalities to decide their future is still not recognized.
The decree of "Nueva Planta" has never been abolished!.
Still today, Catalunya is punished by the centralist Spanish state, and is the region of the world with the highest tax pressure. Read this report (Catalan), by a professor of the University of Columbia, and look at this figures presentation.
