I'm posting today to inform you about a group called Virtual Mountain Range, which is part of a campaign to stop mountaintop removal. Mountaintop removal is a destructive coal mining practice in which the entire top of a mountain is blown off to get to the coal inside. This not only harms our natural environment, but continues our country's dependence on dirty coal.
That's why we're asking people to post pictures of their favorite mountains to our group. We want to amass a huge collection of pictures to show how many of us believe that a little bit of coal isn't worth destroying our environmental treasures. I hope you'll join us!
