About hapticscript
I am doing my bachelor project named hapticscript at the Institute HyperWerk, Academy of Art and Design, University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, in Basel, Switzerland.
hapticscript is a proposal for an experimental presentation method for processing/code-art. Compared to the „frozen“ animated pictures for print, this is an as yet very unusual way of showing images.
The presentation form consist of two displays joined at the edges and a book, consisting of overhead transparencies for the navigation. Overhead transparency pages are linked to light sensors, which in turn are connected to an arduino board. The information is then sent to the displays, and this creative new form of navigation presents animated forms, changing colors, abstract sequences of pictures created by Artists using processing.
The interaction between the viewer and hapticscript will be the key to reading the content: The images are generated as the user turns the pages. hapticscript is read along a non-linear structure which is the focus of this progressive way of exhibiting processing/code-art.
It is the aim of hapticscript to develop a prototype that can be shown at an exhibition. It is not intended for commercial use.The prototype can be used as an exposition within an exhibition.
