About Grocer's Apostrophe
Why can`t people tell the difference between plurals and possessives? Kingsley Amis, a known grammar scold, described it succinctly sixty years ago in Lucky Jim:

I want this group to document the ridiculous advent in English of the dreaded grocer`s apostrophe. Visit and post your own horrid examples. Join the good fight against thoughtless language! In fact, why be narrow-minded? Let this be the place to out unwittingly apt misspellings and idiotic grammar. I`ve revised the "mission" of grocer`s apostrophe so that it includes misspellings that are too good to be true and related grammatical blunders. So please: give us your tired, your poor, your dangling participles yearning to breathe free, the wretched faux pas of your teeming shore; send these, the compromised, right here. I lift an eyebrow beside the golden door!
