To make a documentary portrait of an individual that has impact is not as easy as some people might think. Numerous factors have to be taken into account to achieve the "right shot"...the setting itself, on the street, presents factors influencing the subject and their presence/purpose in the frame, the weather and the lighting conditions play hovoc on the exposure and settings, keeping the shooter on their toes when it comes to exposures and such...the composition in the camera and the point of view the shooter takes directly influence the outcome of the shot and lastly, one must take into account the subject themselves, making sure they do not break character, that sort of action will dilute the nature and context of the image.

This is a group for those who enjoy shooting portraits on the street, or in public places, not paparazzi-style shots with long lenses without the subject\'s knowledge or consent. But rather a group for the more intimate street portrait, the images that reflect the character of the subjects presented and were executed without a the influence of posing the subject.

Please only POST ONE IMAGE A DAY, and only street portraits. There are a fair # of street photo groups to post to, but this one will only focus on documentary style street portraits.

We will administer the images posted to the group pool to make sure they adhere to the direction we'd like this group to take, so please do not take offense to any image uploaded to the group being deleted....
