About A Charlatan in Paris - French Kitsch and Retro Items
This group is a celebration of phoney, stereotypical french stuff! "Frenchy" has long been a byword for all that is romantic, chi-chi and fun. This was particularly so in the 50's when the New Look, Leslie Caron and french poodles ruled the earth. This group is more about the romantic idea of France, or Paris, rather than the real deal. Please post only french-inspired items (the cornier the better!) rather than anything too authentic - there are other groups on Flickr celebrating French things per se. So, dust off your French-inspired fabrics, postcards, book and record covers, furnishings, prints and anything else appropriate! Bring your beret and baguettes! And Bonne Chance!
PS Please don't think this is a group for making fun of French people - if anything it's poking fun at the rest of us who think that we can steal some instant glamour by 'going French'.... :)
