I still have it, I was hoping dan could run it through is Duplicat-o-fix-o-matitron, but I think he's probably tied up.

Still working on it. I'm sure some of the numbers will change. I don't see a lot of true duplicates, so we might be ok.

Ok, based on the idea that real people are safe to use, but fictional characters or company names that already exist are not, I've got some nominations for removal. (When we finalize the list, I'll go through all the current drawings and make sure none of them are lost or the numbers change.) Also a handful or less of some other names for attached reasons.

There were mercifully few direct repeats, a lot of close similarities, but enough to not warrant removal. Still , if we removed these (above) we'd end up with 689 names. I'm sure we could fill them in quickly.
This is an objective take. I wouldn't mind taking out the Crow references (Tin-Tin, Skank, T-Bird) because their fictional characters already and it didn't take much to add them. Likewise there were the Beatles (Ringo Starrrr, etc.) that I left it, but almost didn't want to.
I may have missed some things too. Please take a look, references the old list, let me know what you think.

Anyone else in on this? I wanted to add that we've already got a lot of drawings done and I'd hate to ask eduardo to change all his titles, probably best to keep the numbers everyones already done the same and fudge the rest.
I wanted to start a couple more groups to name (fantasy, mobsters) but I wanted to make sure the groups we have are knocked out.

Knights is almost full, too.
I don't like Beatles either, but that comes down to personal taste.
I would think it was okay to use fictional characters sometimes (e.g. when they aren't well-known for being illustrated >Gilligan). I would personally think about tweaking them so that they're references to the characters but not a direct rip-off.
That being said, I'd probably keep most of the ones above.
