About Vintage European Geishas
This group is for photos/Real Photo postcards or other postcards of European Women or Children (and occasionally Men!) dressed as Geisha or in a japanese fashion.
This fad stemmed from the European fascination with Japan and dates to the period roughly 1880 to as late as the 1920's. This fascination inspired Whistler, Oscar Wilde, Aubrey Beardsley amongst others and also other art forms - think the Mikado or Madame Butterfly.
