About Critique Challenge
WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are critique groups with thoughtful, carefully considered critique, (like Weekly). And there are critique groups that shoot more from the hip....but often times end up with verdicts no less valid than those of the thoughtful groups. Think DeleteMe! Both types of group offer valuable insight. But both can also proffer bad critique.
This is a group for those who want opinions from others but also believe there should be a forum for disagreement when they disagree with the critique. It doesn't matter if the critique is the thoughtful kind, or straight from the hip. If the person making it is just plain WRONG..... this is the the place to let 'em know it.
The rules are simple:
1. Post your shot in the "Critique" thread. Limit of 1 shot per 24 hours.
2. Critique at least 2 other shots in the thread.
3. When you come across a critique you don't agree with (i.e. think it's full of crap), respond by letting the person who made the critique know how wrong, wrong, wrong they are: Point out the error of their ways. Show them something they didn't see or failed to take into consideration. stake out your position.
4. If the offending critique is on your photo....all the better.....defend it! After all, you didn't post the shot because you thought it was lousy. Did you? (Don't lose sight of the fact that they could be right however). If your arguments are successful, you might change the mind (and the vote) of the offending critiquer. If not....well, you at least put up a good fight.
5. At the end of each critique you write, insert the word Stay or Go. Then tag the shot with "stay" or "go" and a number... for example, "stay 2", "go3", etc.
6. When a shot accumulates 5 Stay votes, it leaves the "Critique" thread and gets posted to the pool. If it gets 5 Go votes first, it is deleted from the "Critique" thread and goes home.
7. If you are convinced to change your critique and your vote, don't forget to delete your original tag and re-tag correctly. The owner of the shot is responsible for keeping the tags correctly numbered, as well as posting/deleting their shot. Remember that honesty is the best policy. (If your caught cheating...your out!)
8. As for type of critique: we all have our own style....concise, detailed, from the hip or "nasty, mean, selfish and arrogant", it's up to you.
Do your best to make it good though....because it will be challenged!
