"The City of Sydney presents Art & About, a dynamic series of art exhibitions and events. For three weeks from 3–22 October, the work of renowned and emerging artists will grace the City's streets and public spaces. It’s a spontaneous and vibrant testament to the wonderful City we live in.
Admire the eleven fantastic Open Gallery artworks mounted on City street banner poles, for the first time featuring works by contemporary artists from Australia and overseas. The exhibition’s extension along William and Oxford Streets into Kings Cross and Paddington, celebrates new life following the City’s much needed street upgrades of these areas.
Gain insight to Sydney’s collective soul through the large-scale Sydney Life photographs, suspended along the beautiful grand central walkway of Hyde Park North. With The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month Night Noodle Markets also in Hyde Park North, it makes for an enjoyable and leisurely spring evening.
From 6 to 15 October, the focus moves to Art & About @ Circular Quay. See the Face of Sydney projected nightly against the wall of the AMP Building. Customs House Square and the AMP Building Forecourt will be brimming with large and colourful installations, plus there’ll be a range of exhibitions and talks inside both buildings. Join the launch celebrations on Friday 6 October at 6pm in Customs House Square. There’ll be live entertainment including music by Martini Club and the presentation of the Sydney Life Prize by the Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP and Stephen Dunne, Managing Director AMP Capital Investors.
To end this year’s Art & About, on Sunday 22 October, the art and food precinct of Danks Street, Waterloo, has its art and action packed street festival.
Art & About has something for everyone to enjoy. From the CBD to Glebe, Danks Street, Waterloo, Kings Cross and Paddington, Art & About adds visual excitement to our City. Take a walk through the City or follow the map and planner section to discover exhibitions and events further afield."
