London Lens Competition, Anne Frank Trust UK

The London Lens competition is looking for a photograph that provides a snapshot of what your London means to you, an image that says something about your identity as a young Londoner and a photo that tells a story about the makeup of your local community. The overall winner will take home a fantastic limited edition 7.1 Megapixel Olympus Mju 790SW digital camera!!!!!!


Looking out of her attic window, Anne Frank saw beauty, hope and freedom from her hiding place – even when, all around her, hatred and confusion was dividing society. She dreamed of a more accepting and peaceful world.

The London Lens competition (sponsored by Olympus UK and supported by The Royal Photographic Society and The Department for Communities and Local Government) aims to bring the community of London together through the eye of a camera lens. We want the young participants to show their slice of London, celebrate the wonderful diversity of our capital city and feel proud to be a young Londoner in the 21st century.

The London Lens competition is about being original and expressive and showing others your personal insights that have a message of beauty, hope or freedom.

The competition is open to anyone aged 10 to 21 who live, go to school or work in London. Send photos to lens@annefrank.org.uk and all pictures must be accompanied with 50 words maximum explaining what the photo says about your identity and community.
The closing date for entries is on Anne Frank Day 12th June 2008.
The London Lens Photographic Competition is part of The London Schools Project which will be reaching in the region of 14, 700 young people in the 2007/2008 academic year. All these participants in the London Schools Project will be encouraged to enter The London Lens competition.

As part of this competition we will also be running 4 regional photographic workshops (North, East, South and West London) as part of the project. These workshops will be delivered by top industry professionals.
All of the entries will go on a special public online gallery as soon as they are received.

The competition will be judged by a panel of leading photography professionals and 25 entries from across London will be shortlisted and exhibited at a central London gallery space. One photograph will be selected from each London region (North, South, East, West) and these finalists and the overall winning photograph will be announced at the Grand Final presentation event in September 2008 (Location and date TBC).

The overall winner will take home a fantastic limited edition 7.1 Megapixel Olympus Mju 790SW digital camera.
