About ASPERGIA
"Life" through the eyes of the Autistic:
"A PICTURE is worth a thousand words" may sum up how people with autism see the world.
“The visionary philosophical Olaf Stapledon, once presented a thinly-veiled cautionary tale for possessors of a new human strain of broad-band intelligence, tiny in numbers among the mass of humanity and often isolated, surrounded by the stultifying mentality of the crowd-consensus.” He meant Autism.
“Autism is a valid and unique way of being, and not a disorder to be cured. Newly acquired viewpoints include the belief that the neurological differences (often called neurodiversity) of autistic individuals can be viewed as a beneficial mutation resulting in the development of a genetically distinct minority group, similar in many ways to a minority race of Emotionally Intelligent geniuses”.
In a true sense, every autistic, from the low end of the spectrum to the high end test their ideas in terms of logical coherence, explanatory power, conformity with empirical facts. They do not defer to intellectual authorities: Anyone's ideas can be challenged, from Adam’s and Eve’s to Einstein’s or Hawking’s, from The Constitution of The United States of America to La Santa Liturgia, and understanding and knowledge accumulate through such challenges. These intellectually eclectic whole brain thinkers are perpetually seeking ideas from a variety of sources and adopting the ones that prove their worth, rather than working within "systems" or "schools."
I opened this group so that Aspies and Ausies can demonstrate the power of communication trough images. I am convinced that any person, neurotipical or not, who looks beyond the image itself, will agree that we have much to say, and will further agree that the depth of communication goes far-beyond that of mere words.
“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the trouble makers. The round pegs in the square holes, the ones who see things differently. Aspies who are not fond of rules, and have no respect for the status quo. You can quote us, disagree with us, glorify or vilify us. About the only thing you can't do is ignore us, because we change things, we push the human race forward, and while some may see us as the crazy ones, I see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
After all, Autism is not like you think!
