Hopefully not much will be different but the noise quality of the sensor...

Is it only me or the links doesn't work anymore?

Say - I found this in German. Apparently, the same sensor size will yield 10.2 Mpx (if this site is to be trusted!)

...looks not good for noise, alas! All other specs appear identical to LX1 (alas as well, would have loved higher than f8...)

10.2 MP is stupid. I might buy it if it had fewer megapixels...

Apparently on this size sensor there is no point having more than f8 as diffraction is starting to limit sharpness by then anyway.

Frankly, I wish the marketing guys were taken on a trip for a few months leaving the tech guys to come out with a 2/3 6 or 7 Mpx sensor - that would be fab. Oh no but no! We have to run the MPx race! ...silly as hell. I mean: I shoot all at 80 anyway, but I do wonder what sort of noise they expect by packing 25% more pixels on that sensor?

Still: let's be cautious, I am not sure that web page is to be trusted - I could find nothing else about it, so...

As for f8 - thanks, I was wondering and you made it clear (I'm not technical myself, see :p) Yes, obviously... diffraction would be an issue.

OK then I'd like f1.4 instead! :)

Panasonic officially announced the camera (in English, too).
Here's the press release at Digital Photography Review.

They claim to have a less noisy sensor...
(Though I'm still waiting for someone to release a compact camera with a 35mm film-sized sensor to allow some nice non-macro shallow DOF shots...)

Hmm, it just seems to be removed in software.

I love the sentence "First, critical noise is roughly undraped" though.

16:9 formatted LCD
ISO 3200 (at least it goes beyond IS400, should be a good sign)

It'll be my first Panasonic LX camera. Can't wait!

Not worried about it's noise reduction system. RAW all the way. Main reason I'm buying it. That and the wide format and size and weight...

I'll have to have a look.

...what should I do with my LX1 then? :)

I just got the LX-2 but have not been able to import the RAW files because it ships without any RAW converter software and Adobe Camera RAW (even the latest update) does not recognize it. So I am stuck with nice looking jpegs but I got this because I want to work in RAW. Any ideas?

Both Silkypix and Bibble have LX2 support

larrygerbrandt  Pro User  says:

I tried Bibble and it creates a TIFF file from the RAW file...not exactly the same as opening a file in Adobe Camera Raw and being able to manipulate it directly. In particular, I noticed some purple fringing in one of the shots that ACR could have corrected but no means of doing so in Bibble.

Has anyone tried the LX2 RAW output with Apple Aperture?

LX2 RAW is a no go with Aperture. RAW from the LX2 works with Lightroom.

Adobe Camera RAW 3.6 Beta now support the LX2
