About Numismatist
My emphasis is coins, but numismatics also involves paper currency and medals.
Scholars; collectors; nerds; users of money: welcome!
Images of old and new items are requested. Whether you're a numismatist or not, post your beautiful images here. Only images of legal-tender money, commemoratives, and medals of actual nations or states, past and present, are allowed (and encouraged).
Paper money images must not violate the anti-counterfeiting laws of the nation in question. Generally, this means that your image should not be one that makes it possible to reproduce detail and color in full sharpness. Therefore, I shall not allow any straight-on photo of an entire side of a paper currency note that is uniformly sharp in detail. Partial-detail close-ups and macros are preferred for paper money.
There must be at least one numismatic item plainly visible in the shot, preferrably as a primary or secondary subject. Close-ups and macros are preferred -- detail wanted, photographic artistry wanted! If you like, please tell us anything you know about the coin or coins pictured.
No obscenities are allowed, either in text or image -- there is no need to shock or offend anyone interested in viewing images of numismatic items. You may certainly pose yourself or others with your item(s), but nudity is strictly forbidden, unless it is a design element of the coin or currency itself. I reserve the right to delete any image or edit any discussion comment I deem inappropriate or offensive, with an explanation provided -- my pool, my rules!
Though members may post simple images of numismatic items from "objectionable" regimes past and present, no member will be allowed to glorify any hateful, murderous peoples or philosophies.
