About Parish Boundary Markers

In the UK, the church parishes were (and still are) important administrative units. To identify them, the parish bounds were marked in a number of ways. Famously, they were 'beaten' by annually walking around them - but more permanent markers were erected where the boundary was particularly important, for instance in a city.

Many of these survive - this group has been created to be a record of these survivors.
