About Pack it up Small

In this swap group members send out a size-contrained package to a secret friend who could be located anywhere in the world. Each swap is based on a chosen theme and there are specific requirements that each package to must meet.

The goal is to limit the weight of our swap packages to 250 grams/ 8 oz. Or if your country offers small prepaid envelopes you can use those too.

Each carefully thought out package must include the following:
1. Something handmade (examples: a card, a piece of jewelry, a pouch, a drawing, a CD, something baked etc...)
2. Something to make things with (your favorite recipe, a cookie cutter, beads, papers, ribbon, fabric, etc...)
3. Something to eat or drink (think GOOD not big, QUALITY not quantity)
4. Something small for beauty or grooming (lipgloss, soap, earrings, brooch etc…)
5. Something local. Send a little something related to where you live (a postcard, a fridge magnet, a local candy etc…)
6. A note or card written by you

These do not have to be separate items. For example something can be both the handmade AND beauty item at the same time. Nor do you have to send just one of each item, and if you really think something is appropriate and it does not fall into a category by all means send it.

Just use your imagination to use those 250 grams well. Small can be wonderful, great things come in small packages. Have fun!

As a detail we got a group mascot, Pips the world travelling penguin. More details here. On each themed swap the person who has the little toy at the moment will photograph him before sending him along with the swap to a secret friend. If you do not want to have the responsability of receiving Pips, photographing him and mailing him, please mention so when asking to join a swap.
