About Waterbird Diet Research
This group collects photos of waterbirds catching and consuming prey with the specific aim of assisting researchers and naturalists in the study of diet.
We are especially interested in birds that carry prey with their beak during courtship and chick-rearing (e.g. bill loads of terns, skimmers, puffins, murrelets, guillemots, grebes, and loons). Photos of herons, cormorants, pelicans, storks, and other birds that spear and manipulate prey in their bills before consuming are also welcome. Great reference photos and a discussion of prey identification should improve avian science and allows us to show off hard earned shots from the field!
