About Latin American Baroque and Renaissance/Barroco y Renacimiento
Welcome to the group.The unique version of classical architecture and art which came to be the prevalent mode in the Americas under the colonial administrations of Spain and Portugal. It exists in the areas to the south of the United States, as well in the Carribean,but there are also examples of architecture in Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico. Sorry for the inconsistency, but I am including examples of the short-lived Gothic architecture in this area that pre-dated classical architecture. As you can see, trying to find a succinct title for this group is difficult. The 'Latin America' phrase ignores examples of this style in the South-western USA and 'Baroque...' ignores early Gothic. You are welcome to suggest an alternative title. I am excluding architecture that dates from after 1800.
