About STASI - documents of state surveillance

This group gathers documentary images and archive material related to the STASI, the Ministry of State Security of former DDR. It is one of the rare cases in recent history where the surveillance mechanism of a state against his own citizens has been openly documented and subjected to scrutiny. In an age where most western states are increasing their means of surveillance (through political measures such as the US patriot act), while biometrics and RFID tags become a standardised technology, this case study should be of high interest for any consciously thinking person.
