About Double Ques! CritiQues & TechniQues!
Welcome to the Double Ques group. This invitation only group is designed for the exchange of meaningful and helpful techniques and critiques. We encourage honest and thoughtful assessments of photographs posted in each thread. Our hope is that through the exchange of critiques and techniques all members will benefit and become better at the art of photography.
New members please read THIS FIRST
BEFORE YOU BEGIN, PLEASE DO NOT POST TO THE GROUPS POOL. THE GROUP POOL IS RESERVED FOR THE "SHOWCASE." SEE RULES FOLLOWING "HOW TO."
Here's how it works:
1. Create a new post by clicking the "Create a New topic" tab.
2. The subject line should be the name of your photo only. Keep it simple. The title is used by Double Ques members to pick through the pictures they've commented on, and those that are new to them. A simple title will keep our thread list looking clean.
3. To add a photo to the post, go to the photo's main page and select ALL SIZES.
4. Choose the medium version of the photo.
5. At the bottom of the page you will find the HTML code for the photo itself. Copy this entire section and paste it into your post.
6. It's best to prompt the other members if your looking for specific critiques, IE. "did I crop enough?" or "Did I push the saturation too much?"
Rules
1) We ask that you post no more than one photograph (Topic) within a 24 hour period. We find that it’s best to let a discussion die down on any of your current post’s before you begin another thread.
2) Don't post photos directly to the pool. The group's pool, or SHOWCASE, is reserved for photos or threads nominated and voted in BY 4 MEMBERS.
3) If you would like to see a photograph in the SHOWCASE, please type SHOWCASE in all caps in the thread of the photograph that your voting for.
Although Double Ques admins and members are fairly open-minded, we discourage the posting of porn or violent images. Administrators' decisions are final in this regard.
Furthermore, it is highly encouraged to ...
Enable viewing of 'All Sizes' of your photos. To fully appreciate your picture, critics will often want to see more than the posted medium size picture.
Enable 'Notes'. Notes are an easy way for critics to post cropping suggestions or point at certain items of your picture.
Allow for 'Derivative work'. Sometimes, critics attempt post-processing the submitted picture and want to post it's result. This form of visual feedback can be very constructive. However, if you want this sort of input you must either set your licence to allow the posting of derivative works or give explicit permission for this in your original post.
Flickr Photo Replace Feature: We would encourage that you not use the “replace photo” feature. It is difficult to follow a discussion if your original photograph has been altered and or replaced. It is recommended that you add any altered versions in your original thread.
Not all feedback will be Positive: This group wasn’t started as a “feel good” group. It is designed to elicit meaningful feedback on photographs you feel are lacking somehow or just need another set of eyes to confirm that it’s good or bad. However, we want everyone to remain open minded and positive. Leave ego’s behind and your tempers on the highways, we will not tolerate members abusing one another.
Don't Start Unnecessary or Redundant Threads: If you feel your photo has been overlooked, please don't start a new thread. Instead, bump the old thread up to the front page with a new post requesting feedback. However, use common sense and don't repeatedly bump a thread for no good reason.
