Cool! I somewhat follow this in that I rarely ever center anything in a photograph unless there is a good reason...

Like others have already said, I think I've been following this rule (most of the time) without even knowing it!

@munn1 - You mean to add the image here ? On this thread ?
Click on the photo that you want to share. You will notice a "Share" button right above the photo. Click that and select HTML / BBCode.
Copy and Paste the HTML code in here. Just ensure that you use the Small (240 x 159) option before copying the HTML code. Hope this helps.

I've changed my mind. It is the week for the aesthetics and its "rule of thirds" but also the week for valentines, so I rather leave this as my photo of week 6 for 2012:

I definitely struggle with rules, ask my mom. I have always been the one to try something different.

I have used the edge of the table to define the horizontal thirds and the last sweet on the left to define the vertical third (I know I am slightly over on both).
I think it does help balance the picture, but I don't think it is vital to create a good image.

I think this photo clearly illustrates the rule of thirds; not only is the photo divided into three parts; (sand, sea and sky) but it is centred on three bollards. For once i feel i have done justice to the theme!

This is from a series of portraits I took of my children last week. This one is of my 'third' child. The layout was informed by a book on portrait and candid photography (lent to me by my friend - thanks Gion). Placing the eyes and mouth offset across the 'thirds' of the frame draws the viewer in to his beautiful eyes, which he gets courtesy of his mother.

Better late than never. I rather like offsetting headshots to line up facial features on the thirds (or in 'zones'). Makes for a more interesting portrait.
